Light in the dark
This self-initiated project by the design team was created to show solidarity with Ukraine at the outbreak of the conflict, expressed through graphic works of art. Acknowledging that it is impossible to fully grasp the experiences of the Ukrainian people, my approach was to visualise ‘hope’ under the project title Light in the Dark.
Drawing on the traditional Ukrainian papercut technique, Vytynanky, and using the nation’s distinctive colours of yellow and blue, typographic artworks were cut from single sheets of paper.
A second artwork, titled Light in Dark, employed a similar papercut technique, featuring an illustration of the national symbol, the sunflower. Cut from black paper and illuminated with an LED light from behind, the piece created a striking, radiant effect.
